Sean Powers has been working in Humboldt County as a story-teller, illustrator and musician for twenty years. Nine years ago he discovered shadow puppetry as a medium to combine his talents. Since then he has performed at over 60 different schools, libraries and theatres throughout northern California. He has created ten different shadow plays based on stories from around the world.

In addition to performing, Sean teaches workshops about instruments from around the world and instructs children on how to create their own shadow puppet plays.

Sean also builds hand-carved wooden rod puppets that can be seen as part of the Bobby Burns Puppet Extravaganza, a collaboration with the Shoe Box Puppet Co.

Here is what the critics say about Sean's shows:

"Sean was able to captivate 18 young and easily distracted 3, 4, and 5 year old children. I was constantly amazed..."

-Kathleen Nunnley, Salmon Berry Preschool, Trinidad, CA

"Sean is a gifted story teller, telling his stories by memory using props and instruments to illustrate the stories and encouraging the children to both listen and participate enthusiastically."
